Modernizing an old .NET application
We move an old .NET Framework application to modern .NET piece by piece — without stopping the work and without "let's rewrite everything from scratch".
The problem
Old .NET works, but new libraries do not support it and there are fewer and fewer developers willing to dig into it. A full rewrite is a year of work and a risk of stopping the business.
Who it is for
- An application on .NET Framework 4.x, WebForms or WCF that works every day
- Upgrading is scary and supporting it gets more expensive
- You need to move the system to a new server or to the cloud
What you get
- A plan of the move piece by piece: what we move first and why
- The system keeps working during the modernization
- Every step is checked on your data
How the work goes
- 01
You describe the process and the systems — through the form or on WhatsApp
- 02
A short conversation and, if needed, a demonstration of how everything works now
- 03
An estimate: what we do, in what order and what we need from you
- 04
Implementation step by step, checked on your data
- 05
Handover: a short instruction and what to do if something goes wrong
What you will need
- The .NET version, the type of application and where it runs
- Access to the source code — after we agree
- A person on your side who knows how the system is used
Limits — honestly
- The timing depends on the size and condition of the code — I give it after an initial review
- Sometimes the honest answer is to leave part of the system as it is; that is an option too
- Passwords and access keys are not accepted through the form — we pass them separately once we agree
- I give the cost and timing after the estimate
Example
A distributor runs on an internal WebForms system from 2012. First we move the API and reports to modern .NET and move the interface later — the business does not stop.
Terms
- Price
- Code assessment — 300 USD, then from 50 USD per hour
We settle the other terms in the first message — write to me and I will answer specifically.
